Creating Climate Smart Communities project. Dry Seasons- preparing for Spring and Summer- Phillip Island 26th August.

You are invited to attend this workshop on Dry Seasons- preparing for Spring and Summer at the Phillip Island property of Bill and Amanda Cleeland. With low rainfall, and minimal hay and silage stock, having the knowledge and confidence to plan for a potentially dry spring and summer is essential.

This day will provide farmers with an opportunity to hear other farmers talk about their strategies in managing current conditions, meet together, get the latest information, hear about the local soil moisture probes as part of the West Gippsland soil monitoring project, and have a meal together.
 
Presenters include:

• Dale Grey (the Fast Break) - weather outlook for next few months
• Fiona Baker – planning for spring and summer, water requirements, maximising growth during peak growing season
• James Paulet – using data from 6 new soil moisture probes and weather stations located in West/South Gippsland to make decisions informed decisions.

After lunch we will walk around Bill and Amandas farm looking at their dry season management strategies. All farmers are welcome to attend.  Please ensure your boots are clean before arriving.
