vision

Anderson Inlet Landcare Group aims to be a community working together to improve land productivity and farm viability by reducing land degradation and sustaining the natural environment.

objectives

  • Remnant Vegetation Protection and halting dieback
  • Tidal Erosion
  • Using revegetation techniques to increase native vegetation cover
  • Pest Plant and Animal Control
  • Education
  • Soil Management and Improving Water Quality

goals

From these objectives the Group identified the following key goals which have been prioritised and are linked with generic actions to tackle them. Many issues are interrelated and cannot be tackled on their own.
1. Remnant Vegetation Protection And Halting Dieback
  • Fencing what is left to exclude stock
  • Linking remnants by creating Wildlife Corridors and larger biolinks along creeks, roadsides and across property boundaries
  • Control weeds to improve health and protect biodiversity of remnant bush and farmland

2. Tidal Erosion
  • Planting of Mangroves and Saltmarsh species to prevent erosion and enhance the natural environment

3. Using Revegetation Techniques To Increase Native Vegetation Cover
  • Establish plants from tubestock or direct seeding to reduce erosion, salinity, wind, nutrient losses and dieback
  • Improve farm productivity, soil and water quality and protect biodiversity by re-establishing native vegetation

4. Pest Plant And Animal Control
  • Control weeds including Spartina, thistles, boxthorn, blackberries and pittosporum on roadsides, farms and reserves.

5. Education
  • Discuss issues and ideas with neighbours and new landholders
  • Promote the BCLN EBMP course and Land Stewardship approach

6. Soil Management And Improving Water Quality
  • Encourage soil testing before spreading of Fertilizers
  • Remnant Vegetation Protection and halting dieback
  • Tidal Erosion
  • Using revegetation techniques to increase native vegetation cover
  • Pest Plant and Animal Control
  • Education
  • Soil Management and Improving Water Quality
