You are invited to an exciting farm walk at the Glen Alvie property of Dani and Brad Carr. The farm has been in Brad’s family for over 100 years and was originally a dairy farm. Originally covered in bushland, Brad’s grandfather cleared the land to start farming. Over the years it has transitioned into a beef farm and since 2005 Dani and Brad have been slowly revegetating strategic areas. Remnant bushland areas have also been protected and are slowly being enhanced. The farm has greatly benefited from this work with the cattle having access to more valuable shade and shelter along with increased habitat for local native wildlife including insects. ‘A win-win for everyone’. We will be joined on the day by ecologist, Alison Oates and Karen Thomas from Melbourne Water who has worked with beneficial insects on farms. This will be a fantastic interactive farm walk and we hope to see you all on the day. Biosecurity measures will be in place on the day. Please ensure your vehicles and footwear are clean prior to this farm walk. Event Details. Date: Thursday 22nd June 2023. Time: 10.30am to 1.30pm.
