BCLN Staff Side-By-Side Training Course

​BCLN has recently acquired a Kawasaki 4wd Side by Side mule to help the Works Crew and Pest Animal team efficiently deliver our contract work and also help out with revegetation work.
We will also be taking delivery of a Quick Spray unit, which will help the team out with weed control and spot spraying in difficult to reach places throughout our Landcare network. As part of OHS responsibility to our staff team we have recently engaged HART training to run a side by side vehicle course. 13 of our staff were put through the training over a two day period. The training emphasised the importance of knowing your terrain, maintaining checklists for your vehicle, the importance of baffles when spray units are attached, wearing helmets, wearing seatbelts, only driving where you feel comfortable and the importance of driving within the vehicles limitations.
 
Our trainer Paul has had many years of experience in driver training and gave our crew a great all-round knowledge of safe operations when driving side by side vehicles. 
A big thank you to Bruce and Anna Spiden, who allowed us to run the course at their beautiful farm in the Woolamai hills. Bruce even lent us his side by side for the two days, so big thanks to Bruce and we hope your paddocks will recover well from the punishment the vehicles inflicted.
