On Friday the 19th of May Bass Coast Landcare Network hosted a tour of the best Landcare revegetation project sites throughout the Powlett River Catchment area. A group of 37 farmers came from all over Victoria to join us to have a look at the great work that Bass Coast Landcare Network have been undertaking with its volunteers over the past 20 years. Dave Bateman BCLN NRM Coordinator explained “We have planted over 1.5 million indigenous plants in the Powlett Catchment in that time in an effort to protect the waterways and gullies, reduce erosion and improve water quality”. Paul Speirs President of the Powlett Project Landcare group did a fantastic job hosting the tour and talking about the many benefits of planting indigenous plants and being involved in Landcare as a volunteer.
Bass Coast Landcare would like to thank Susan Davies, Prom Country Cheese and John Mumford and Nicky Miller for being great hosts on the tour and allowing us to walk through some great examples of Revegetation. We are currently looking for revegetation project sites. To put in your expression of interest please click here. |
