On Sunday, the 31st of July (national tree day), Bass Coast Landcare Network and 3 Creeks Landcare Group are hosting a community planting day in conjunction with a bushwalk. The day will involve planting 3000 plants funded by Westernport Water as part of their support for local community groups along an estimated 5.5km stretch of Bridge Creek, contributing to one of the Bass Coast Shire’s most valuable waterways. Starting at 160 Hawkins Road, Woolamai we will plant 1500 plants. We will then walk downstream planting as we go before reaching the property at 3965 Bass Highway, Kilcunda, where we will be planting a further 500 plants before crossing the highway and making our way to 115 Mouth of the Powlett Rd. Attendees are strongly encouraged to leave a vehicle at 115 Mouth of the Powlett Road and carpool to 160 Hawkins Rd with another volunteer on the morning of the event if planning on doing the entire walk. For attendees not wanting to walk the entire stretch, it will be best to complete the first section of planting and then drive to 3965 Bass Highway and wait for the group there. As we are crossing multiple properties there will be no toilets available and attendees are asked to pack their own food for the day. Click the flyer below for further details!
