We can't wait to welcome you back to the River Garden! Come along and join our River Garden Community, meet like-minded people, learn from expert speakers, assist to maintain the growing spaces and more. There are tasks for all abilities, sharing of information and produce plus learning for all. The produce is growing, however so are the weeds and grasses, we need your help!! Our next River Garden Blitz on Saturday 14th of August will again feature local Horticulture teacher Adrian James, who will this time be helping us to control pests, diseases and disorders with the I.D. / Treat / Manage approach. Participants are asked to bring along a photo or a bagged sample of a pest, disease or disorder on your vegetables or fruit trees, or even natives so we can discuss problems and come up with solutions for you. If you have ever wondered what is eating your cabbages, why your citrus leaves are yellow or what that funny spot is on your leaves then this is the day for you! (click 'read more' for the full article and registration link) This day will start at 9:30am and run until 3pm in the format of part hands-on Blitz with tasks for all abilities/part demonstration, discussion and hands-on workshop with a free lunch for those who register.
Bring along your water bottle, your favourite garden tools if you can't live without them (although we will also supply tools), your garden gloves and long pants are preferred. We will provide QR code registration, sanitiser, tools, tea & coffee, lunch, guidance and plenty of space to socialise, learn and take part in this great community space. Parking is in the car park between the Bass Hall and Op Shop, entry to the River Garden is via gates at either side of the Landcare office. There is also an all-access entry and small parking area via the road at the side of the op shop for anyone with mobility issues. We would love your help in continuing to turn the River Garden into a fully functional, productive growing space where we can learn from each other and grow healthy nutrient dense food, see you there! This will be run as a Covid safe event, changing format as needed to comply with current restrictions. All registered attendees will be notified of any changes. P.S. Thanks to new funding from VicHealth, we will now be featuring speakers and demonstrations at each of our Monthly (second Saturday of the month) Blitz days, YAY! Please let us know if there is anything in particular you would like to learn about at the River garden and we will see what we can do.... https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/river-garden-blitz-and-controlling-pests-diseases-and-disorders-tickets-165708656051 |
